Kyiv and Moscow strike pauses announced
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv for the US envoys’ visit. At 17:21, Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine was ready to refrain from striking Moscow from that point through Monday, September 7, and expected Russia to do the same regarding Kyiv. The announcements concern the capitals, not a front-wide ceasefire. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow and are due to travel to Kyiv on Sunday. Earlier in the day, Zelensky said Russia had attacked Kyiv and Boryspil airports overnight. Physical airport damage has not been independently established.
